Nilaya demands constant day-to-day maintenance and provision toward four yearly safety surveys, hull cleaning and painting (which requires lifting the barge from the water) together with the insurance, equipment, (ropes, fenders etc.) waterway licenses, expensive 'white' road diesel, food, drinks, mooring, water and electricity fees, that make cruising European waterways possible.
